For SUPers wishing to start earlier, we recommend this when choosing your wetsuit 😇:
- BEFORE-APRIL: For the craziest among us, a 6/5mm is necessary
- MID-APRIL to MID-MAY
5/4 mm or 4/3 mm combination.
- MID-MAY TO MID-JUNE
3/2 combination
- MID-JUNE and more
There we are talking! Often, a swimsuit is enough. We may sometimes need a small 1.5mm neoprene top
If like many people, you are looking for the best combo and you won't be hitting the water until at least mid-May, here is the best combo to have!
⭐ Two pieces: a long jane/john 1.5mm or 2mm which allows you to move without having your shoulders covered. Your upper body is always hot anyway. Then if it's a little cool, we add a neoprene top which will transform our kit into a 3/2 mm wetsuit. In the end you gain flexibility and versatility for the same price as a 3/2 mm wetsuit

*X/Y values like 4/3 mean the suit has two layers of neoprene.
Thicker material is used around the trunk to provide warmth and buoyancy, while thinner material is used on the arms and legs to increase freedom of movement.

Obviously the information we give is based on averages and may change depending on the year. Your tolerance to cold, wind and the quality of the wetsuit also play a role in the choice of thickness
