Our story

SUP Montréal was born in 2016 from a shared passion between Jonathan Godbout and Arthur de la Mauvinière for paddleboarding and water sports.

At the time, the idea was simple: to create a place in Montreal entirely dedicated to SUP, where people could take the time to talk about boards, compare them, try them out, and, above all, receive expert advice, with a desire to help future enthusiasts discover SUP.

A 100% paddleboard shop

We chose to specialize exclusively in SUP because our entire team is passionate about the sport and we like to truly know what we sell.

We test the boards on the water, compare their feel and construction, and we do the same with paddles and accessories. We work with several carefully selected brands, because our goal is first and foremost to find the right board for each of you.

That is also why we like to take the time to ask questions, to understand your needs and your style of riding before recommending a model.

Sharing our passion

We love explaining the differences between boards, why a few inches of width can make a real difference, or why a good paddle can completely change an outing.

At heart, our daily life at the shop is primarily this: helping everyone have great experiences on the water.

The idea of making SUP even more accessible

Not everyone needs to buy a board to enjoy SUP.

That is why we offer take-away rentals, for a day, a weekend, or the entire season. Often, that is how the spark happens… and how the urge to get back on the water grows.

And if you fall in love with your rental board, you can even buy it.

Being there even after the purchase

A board can last a long time when it is well chosen and well maintained.

This is why we try to stock the parts and accessories that paddlers truly need: fins, valves, pumps, paddles, replacement parts, and sometimes even the elusive fin for a board bought ten years ago.

We have also developed an inflatable board repair service with a very simple idea: when a board can still be saved, it shouldn’t end up in the trash.

Buy better, keep longer

We strongly believe in a philosophy:

Choose the right equipment and enjoy it for a long time.

That does not mean choosing the most expensive product.

It mostly means choosing the board that is perfectly suited to you and that will be able to accompany you on your adventures for a long time.

10 years later... still the same desire

SUP Montréal has evolved along with us, as have our selection and our services. And we still hold on to exactly what drove us at the beginning: a small team that loves sharing its experience and is still just as eager to pass on its passion for SUP.
