SUP Fishing? What is it exactly?
It's the simple act of fishing on your paddleboard!
For this, SUP Montreal has concocted a cocktail of boards and accessories to satisfy your new activity.
To do this you need:
1. A board: That's good because the new Retrospec June have just arrived at the store + its children's model
2. A seat (or a hard cooler)
A good Retrospec seat makes all the difference, especially for extended outings. Opt for a handy Outdoor Master cooler bag to keep your catch cool or your lunch fresh đ
3. A cane holder
Attach a removable PaddleClip rod holder to your board to keep your hands free. Compatible with our models, these holders are easy to install and remove without tools.
4. A light anchor
To avoid drifting while you wait for a bite, a small Retrosepc folding anchor can make all the difference.
5. A comfortable life jacket
Basic rule: always wear a PFD. Choose a thin, comfortable model that won't hinder your paddling movements... or your perfect cast. We suggest the NRS Ninja đ
6. An adjustable and lightweight paddle
Fishing can last for hours. A lightweight Starboard carbon fiber or hybrid paddle will save your arms and mental battery, or opt for the 4-piece hybrid SUP or Kayak paddle, depending on your preferences. đ
Some tips before you leave đŻ
- Favor calm bodies of water: lakes, slow-moving rivers, sheltered bays.
- Avoid very windy days (unless you have a good anchor).
- Keep your gear organized on board with a dry bag or small bin.
- And above all: respect local fishing rules (map, quota, authorized species)
SUP Fishing, good for the body and mind đ§đȘ
It's not just relaxing... it's also good for your health!
Here's why:
- Complete muscle work: even without realizing it, you engage your core, legs and back while maintaining balance on the board.
- Improved posture: Paddling strengthens the abdominal muscles and stabilizes the shoulders.
- Stress reduction: surrounded by water, lulled by movement, focused on your figure... it's mindfulness in nature.
- Outdoor exposure: a few hours in the sun (with sunscreen đ), it does wonders for morale and vitamin D.
- Gentle cardio: Standing, sitting, or moving lightly, this is a moderate effort that's perfect for staying in shape without exhausting yourself.
In short, it's a sport that's good for the body and mind â while giving you the chance to come back with your own catch of the day.
