Description
Aqua Marina - Steam 312
1-Person Inflatable Kayak
The Aqua Marina Steam 312 is a single-person inflatable kayak designed for recreational outings on lakes, rivers, and calm waters. Stable and easy to transport, it’s an excellent choice for experiencing kayaking without the hassle of transporting and storing a rigid boat.
Unlike entry-level inflatable kayaks with soft bottoms, the Steam features a removable high-pressure Drop-Stitch floor. Once inflated, this becomes firm and rigid, improving stability, comfort, and the feeling of glide on the water.
With a width of 35 inches, the Steam 312 offers a reassuring and accessible platform for beginner paddlers. Its length of 10 feet 3 inches also makes it compact and easy to maneuver.
Stable and Easy to Handle
The Steam 312 has been designed to offer good stability without becoming too heavy or cumbersome. Its generous side chambers provide a secure feeling, while its rigid floor helps the kayak better maintain its shape on the water.
Two removable fins are included to improve directional tracking. The kayak thus moves more easily in a straight line and requires fewer paddle corrections, an advantage particularly appreciated during first outings.
Rigid Drop-Stitch Floor
The removable 7 cm floor uses a Drop-Stitch construction similar to what is found in inflatable paddle boards.
Thousands of threads connect the two internal surfaces of the floor so that it can be inflated to high pressure without deforming. The result is a firm and stable bottom that provides a better feel underfoot and under the seat than a traditional inflatable floor.
Designed for Lakes and Rivers
The Steam is equipped with eight self-bailing drainage valves allowing water to quickly exit the boat.
On a lake or calm body of water, the valves can be left closed to keep the inside of the kayak drier. They can be opened when conditions are rougher or during a river outing.
Rigid V-shaped protectors are also placed under the bow and stern to better protect the kayak during launching and docking.
Comfortable and Adjustable Position
The padded seat has a high backrest offering good support during outings. Its position can be adjusted thanks to the various attachment rings on the kayak.
An adjustable footrest is also included. It provides better leg support and allows for a more efficient and comfortable paddling position.
Storage spaces with elastic cords are located at the front and back to carry a dry bag, a water bottle, or personal belongings.
Easy to Transport and Store
Once deflated, the Steam 312 stores in its transport backpack. With a weight of only 25.4 lbs, it is easy to transport in a car, store in an apartment, or take to the cottage.
Three handles, placed at the front, back, and center, also facilitate its movement once inflated. (Aqua Marina)

Our Opinion
The Steam 312 is an interesting inflatable kayak for a person looking for a stable, compact, and more rigid boat than a basic inflatable kayak.
Its Drop-Stitch floor makes a real difference on the water: the kayak better maintains its shape, offers better support, and provides a more solid feel. Its self-bailing valves also add versatility for river outings or in slightly rougher conditions.
However, it remains a relatively short solo kayak, primarily focused on stability, maneuverability, and ease of transport. For long tours and speed, a longer kayak will offer a better glide.
For a first inflatable kayak that's easy to transport and capable of accompanying your progress, the Steam 312 offers a very complete package.
