Description

The ultralight packraft for a different way to explore

You may be familiar with inflatable kayaks, but perhaps not yet with the packraft. Smaller, much lighter, and designed to be easily transported, the packraft allows you to combine hiking and water exploration. You pack it in your bag, walk to a lake or calm river, inflate it on-site, and head out to paddle.

The NRS Aster is designed specifically to help you discover this activity with ease. Stable, compact, and extremely lightweight, it is aimed at beginners, families, and those looking for a small, easily transportable watercraft to explore lakes and calm waters.

At just 2.45 kg for the Standard packraft, it is light enough to be part of a hike and compact enough to take up very little space in the car, at a campsite, or in your luggage. Once on the water, its large tubes and inflatable seat provide a comfortable and reassuring position.

Unlike a traditional inflatable kayak, the Aster is not designed to offer a lot of space or travel long distances: its main advantage is being able to go everywhere with you.

Why choose the NRS Aster?

  • Ideal for a first packrafting experience

  • Designed primarily for lakes and calm waters

  • Extremely light and compact

  • Easy to transport during a hike or trip

  • Stable and simple to use

  • Available in two sizes to suit the paddler and the amount of equipment carried

  • TPU-coated nylon construction, PVC-free

  • RF-welded and internally reinforced seams

  • Inflatable seat included

It is particularly well-suited for paddlers who want to keep the weight they carry to a minimum.

  • Length: 7'6" / 229 cm

  • Width: 37" / 94 cm

  • Packraft weight: 5.4 lb / 2.45 kg

  • Equipped weight: 6.1 lb / 2.77 kg

  • Maximum recommended capacity: 250 lb / 113 kg

  • Tube diameter: 10.5"

A lightweight construction designed for transport

To keep its weight particularly low, NRS uses 70D TPU-coated nylon on both sides for the tubes, combined with a more durable 210D TPU-coated nylon floor.

The seams are radio-frequency welded and then reinforced with inner tape to ensure good air retention while maintaining a very lightweight construction.

The Aster features a single main air chamber and a Bravo valve.

Good to know

The Aster features a closed floor and is not self-bailing. It is therefore primarily intended for calm waters rather than regular whitewater use.

It also lacks the TIZIP internal storage compartment found on some more specialized NRS packrafts. This is intentional: the Aster focuses above all on simplicity, low weight, and ease of transport.
