Technical features of the 2026 Starboard Gen R
Versatile design
Flat water, technical races, beach starts, and open ocean paddling in light to medium weather are ideal for the new Gen R. Its lighter, thinner design gives you better control and the ability to paddle in a wide range of race scenarios, from flat-water sprints to choppy downwind runs.
Fast glide and responsiveness
The rounded tail, inspired by the All Star, gives the Gen R better glide, increased speed, and greater forgiveness in the ocean. Its design ensures excellent responsiveness in turns and optimal water drainage.
Refined profile and reduced weight
The new Gen R has a thinner profile and less volume than the previous generation, making it lighter, faster, and more maneuverable, especially in crosswinds or during beach starts.
New rounded rails
The rounded forward rails have been redesigned to improve directional control and tracking, especially when the wind is blowing from the side. Their geometry seeks a balance between stability and precision in variable conditions.
Extended forward standing area
The standing area on the new Gen R has been extended forward to facilitate stance adjustments during sprints and downwind runs.
6. New rocker line
The rocker combines geometry inspired by the previous Gen R at the front and the All Star at the rear. This design aims to maintain exceptional control in choppy water and lightning-fast acceleration on flat water.
Lowered platform
The standing area is 1.5 cm lower than on the previous Gen R. This lowering brings the rider's center of gravity closer to the water's surface, improving stability and control.
New recessed EVA handle
The 1 cm recessed EVA handle offers a soft and comfortable grip when carrying. Its design is particularly suited for running beach starts, where the board must be lifted and handled quickly.
V-nose
Designed to help drain water from the deck and improve the board's handling in chop and waves.
Lite Tech Construction
Lite Tech is a more accessible alternative, with a reinforced construction suitable for regular use and training.
It uses:
-
Unidirectional reinforcement bands to increase stiffness.
-
Additional reinforcements on the rails and bow.
-
Australian pine in the standing area to improve impact resistance and stiffness.
-
High-density foam around the inserts to reinforce attachments.
For what type of paddler?
The Gen R 14' × 25" is aimed at paddlers looking to compete without being limited to a single type of water.
Its intermediate width and easy-to-move-on platform make it particularly relevant for technical races, mixed-condition competitions, and long-distance fitness.
It is an interesting choice for competitors who prefer a versatile board over a model specialized exclusively for flat-water speed.
